At Paris’ Grand Palais you can now visit an exhibition like no other.
From March 21st to July 16th, the museum exhibits Animal Beauty, a collection of around 130 animal-themed artworks. From the Renaissance to present day, the show contains animal pieces by artists like Rembrandt, Eugene Delacroix, Alexandre Gabriel Decamps, Picasso, Giacometti, Leonardo da Vinci, Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, van Gogh, Goya, Degas and Gabriel von Max.
The exhibition focuses on the relationships between artists and animals and the close link between art and science, which has interested humans for centuries. One of the spaces focuses on endangered and extinct species, such as the dodo, in order to raise people’s awareness of the issues regarding threatened species.
The show took 13 years to complete, is a feast for art lovers and animal fanatics, and definitely worth the visit.
